How RadioMap Builds the Catalogue
The deterministic static-data method planned for RadioMap.
Bounded source build
The catalogue builder discovers Radio Browser mirrors, sends a descriptive RadioMap user agent with a public contact address, downloads bounded pages, validates the schema and rejects unsafe, non-HTTPS or ungeolocated browser streams. The current noindex staging snapshot publishes only records that pass those checks.
Static output
After normalization and suppression, staging serves the catalogue as a cached static asset. Listener requests do not query a RadioMap database, Worker or public API. A production refresh would be generated outside the visitor hot path and published only after the same validation succeeds.
Factual limits
RadioMap never hosts, records, transcodes, proxies or inserts audio advertising into a station stream. When a listener starts a station, the browser connects directly to that station or its stream host, which receives the listener's network request.
RadioMap relies on recent source checks rather than continuously probing every stream. A recent successful check is not an uptime or rights guarantee, and regional restrictions or removal requests can require a station to be disabled.
Podcast selection and updates
Podcast directories are generated from public bulk exports outside the visitor request path. Records require a public HTTPS feed and an available HTTPS audio URL in the source snapshot. Duplicate IDs, feed URLs, podcast GUIDs and matching show-and-publisher identities are merged. Listings and map collection counts are generated together and checked during the build.
Country directories include qualifying shows with explicit publisher location metadata and use static pages of at most 100 shows. Language and topic directories offer a bounded selection with publisher diversity. Indexable pages require at least 12 shows, four publishers and 12 shows updated within the previous 180 days at build time. Selection is not an audited audience ranking.
The displayed snapshot date describes catalogue generation, not a live availability test. The initial episode link is the latest available in that source snapshot. Loading more episodes is optional and connects directly to the publisher’s RSS feed; some hosts do not permit browser access. The snapshot episode and publisher link remain available when that request fails.
